Ghana’s Jerry Lartey delivered an impressive performance in the men’s 60kg boxing class at the ongoing 2nd Africa Military Games in Abuja, securing a decisive victory over Cape Verde’s Natalino Semedo.
The electrifying bout, held at the boxing arena of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, added another highlight to the tournament as Lartey showcased his skill, strategy, and determination.
From the opening bell, Lartey displayed dominance, using his agility and precision to keep Semedo on the defensive.
The Ghanaian boxer’s sharp combinations and well-timed counterpunches consistently found their mark, leaving Semedo struggling to match his pace.
The crowd at the arena erupted with cheers as Lartey’s confidence grew, controlling the fight and landing a series of powerful blows in the later rounds.
Semedo, though valiant in his effort, could not overcome Lartey’s relentless attack.
The judges unanimously declared Lartey the winner, much to the delight of the Ghanaian contingent in attendance.
Speaking after the fight, Lartey expressed his pride in representing Ghana on the continental stage.
“I’m thrilled to bring this victory to my team and my country. It wasn’t an easy fight, but I stuck to my game plan and gave it my all. This win is for Ghana, and I’m motivated to go even further,” Lartey said.
