AMGA 2024: Hammdaoui Zineb of Algeria Claims Gold in 200m Rifle Prone Event

Algerian shooter Hammdaoui Zineb wins gold medal in the 200m rifle prone event at the 2nd Africa Military Games in Abuja.

Algerian shooter Hammdaoui Zineb triumphed in the 200m rifle prone position event at the ongoing 2nd Africa Military Games at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja, securing the gold medal with a total of 217 points after six series of 10 rounds each.

Zineb’s impressive performance began on the fourth day of the shooting competition at the Shittu Alao Barrack in Keffi.

In the first series, she scored 31 points, taking an early lead among the nine contestants. She followed up with a solid 32 points in the second series, securing the second-best score behind Nigeria’s Warrant Officer Ayuba.

In the third series, Zineb raised her game, scoring an outstanding 49 points, which helped her maintain her position at the top.

With consistent performances in the remaining series, she held on to her lead and clinched the gold.

Kenya’s Agata Muchiri, who had an excellent showing in the 200m rifle standing position, took the silver medal in the prone event with a total score of 200 points. Nigeria’s Gloria Okafor earned the bronze medal with 182 points.

In the team event, Kenya emerged victorious, claiming the gold, followed by Nigeria in silver, and Algeria taking the bronze.
