Abuja is set to host a thrilling volleyball competition as six men’s teams and two women’s teams gear up for action at the ongoing 2024 Africa Military Games (AMGA 2024).
The fixtures, announced during a technical meeting held at the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) boardroom on Saturday, promise intense rivalries and exciting matches.
The tournament kicks off on November 25, with the following matchups:
- Sierra Leone vs Burkina Faso at 12:00 PM
- Ghana vs Kenya at 2:00 PM
- Nigeria vs Algeria at 4:00 PM
The President of the NVBF, Engineer Musa Nimrod, stated: “This is more than just a tournament. It is a celebration of African strength, discipline, and teamwork.”
He also expressed gratitude to General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff, for spearheading significant renovations to the indoor sports hall where the matches will occur.
“When I entered the hall, I was pleasantly surprised by the extensive renovations. The improvements have made the arena more beautiful and functional. I want to commend the Chief of Defence Staff for investing in the nation’s sports facilities,” Nimrod added.
Commodore Aliyu Pindar (RTD), Chairman of the FCT Volleyball Association, shared his optimism about the performance of Nigeria’s Armed Forces volleyball team.
“I am confident that these players will make the country proud. They are hungry for glory, and the African Military Games provide the perfect platform for them to shine,” he said.
