AMGA: Algeria Secures Hosting Rights for 2026

After AMGA 2024, Algeria takes on the mantle to host the 3rd edition in 2026.

Algeria has officially been confirmed as the host of the 3rd edition of the All Africa Military Games (AMGA), following the successful conclusion of the 2024 games in Abuja, Nigeria.

The baton for hosting the next edition was handed over at the closing ceremony of the event, which took place on Saturday night, November 30, 2024, at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

The 2024 AMGA saw Team Nigeria Armed Forces dominate the games with an impressive 234 medals, including 114 gold, 65 silver, and 55 bronze, securing the top position.

Algeria finished in second place with 96 medals, comprising 64 gold, 22 silver, and 22 bronze. Kenya secured third place with 50 medals, including 21 gold, 17 silver, and 12 bronze, while Ghana and Ethiopia completed the top five.

A total of 20 countries participated in the 12-day event, with Zambia, Sierra Leone, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Equatorial Guinea failing to win any medals.

The closing ceremony featured performances by Nigerian music star Omawumi and a cultural troupe that celebrated Nigeria’s rich cultural diversity and unity.
