Ethiopia showcased its dominance in the women’s 5000m at the ongoing Africa Military Games (AMGA) 2024, clinching gold and silver in a thrilling race.
Werkuha Getachew led the charge for Ethiopia, crossing the finish line in 15:41.75 to secure the top spot.
Her teammate, Asegu Ayal Dagnachew, followed closely behind, clocking 15:42.06 to claim silver and complete an Ethiopian 1-2 finish.
Kenya’s Spte. Cintia Chepngeno ensured her country also made it to the podium, securing bronze with a commendable time of 15:44.18.
Ethiopia’s victory is a testament to its stronghold in long-distance events globally, with Kenya also proving its mettle in a fiercely contested race.
