Ghana’s Mary Boakye etched her name into history books at the ongoing 2nd African Military Games in Abuja, Nigeria, by clinching the Gold medal in the highly anticipated women’s 100m final.
The electrifying race at the Abuja National Stadium showcased Boakye’s exceptional speed, earning her the title of the fastest woman in Africa’s military sports arena.
Boakye crossed the finish line in a blistering time of 11.35 seconds, narrowly defeating her closest rival from Kenya, who clocked 11.48 seconds to claim the Silver medal.
The Bronze medal went to a sprinter from South Africa, who finished with a commendable time of 11.62 seconds.
“I am beyond thrilled to have won this Gold medal for my country. This is not just a victory for me but for Ghana and the incredible team that has supported me throughout this journey.
“The competition was tough, but I stayed focused, and I’m proud of the result,” an elated Boakye said during the post-race interview.
The 100m final was one of the marquee events at the 2nd African Military Games, drawing widespread attention from fans, dignitaries, and fellow athletes.
